A thematic studies abroad program selected through a grant process to deliver professional development opportunity to Waseda University faculty members. Offered jointly with the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, it combines issues of international importance with practicum opportunities in local nonprofit organizations.

Three thematic studies abroad programs combining English language study with content-based courses focused on global conflicts and sustainability.

Thematic studies intensive summer short course combining English language study with Environmental Studies.

In partnership with USAID and NOAA, UWEO co-presented a program in tsunami science and preparedness held at the Asian Institute of Technology.
