Summer Institute in Sustainability

July 20–25, 2008 · The University of British Columbia

Make sustainability a core value in your organization

The Summer Institute in Sustainability is an intensive professional development program targeted to administrators in colleges and universities, state and local governments, and corporations who wish to learn how to develop organization-wide sustainability policies, procedures and projects. The program is offered by the University of British Columbia (UBC) in partnership with the University of Washington (UW).

Is your organization developing sustainability plans? Are you helping make sustainability a core operating principle within your business, public agency or campus? Then the Summer Institute in Sustainability is designed for you.

The institute takes place over five days and an evening at the UBC Vancouver Point Grey campus and includes:

  • A one-hundred-mile dinner on Sunday night to welcome you to the institute where you can meet presenters and fellow participants

  • Lectures from leading sustainability experts in areas from ecology to economics

  • Seminars from sustainability professionals with expertise in developing and managing sustainability programs

  • Case study workshops so you can help design innovative initiatives that make an impact

  • Experiential field trips to examine green buildings and on-site sustainability projects
