Examine the broad and complex field of environmental regulations and gain familiarity with key laws that influence natural resource management. Improve your understanding of agencies and organizations that create, enforce, interpret, and work with environmental regulations. Study a diverse set of perspectives to appreciate the regulatory context in which environmental decisions are made.
What the Program Covers
- A comprehensive examination of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations with an emphasis on the overriding federal and state statutes
- The history, principles, and application of environmental legislation, including case studies
- Exploration of key governmental agencies, their roles and respective areas of responsibility, and how they interact with each other and the private sector
- Analysis of an environmental law or regulation through a professional practicum experience
Benefits
You will understand the myriad of regulations and laws that govern the environment and be able to make sound assessments and decisions based on your knowledge. Through practical projects you will gain new skills and hands-on experience in natural resource management. Upon completion of this program, you will earn nine Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
