Port Townsend
Port Townsend is a delightful town in the rural Olympic Peninsula, just over
one hour from Seattle by car and ferry. In Port Townsend, you can see
Victorian houses built in the 1800s, taste homemade ice cream in the
historic downtown area, visit a peaceful beach and state park with a
lighthouse, and stay overnight in a historic castle. You will feel that
you have taken a little holiday trip in just a short weekend or even a
day!
Gift and souvenir shopping is fun and manageable, located entirely within
an 8-block area. Antiques shopping is also great fun, even if you don't
buy anything—it's kind of similar to visiting a museum!
Ah - and on the topic of museums - you can visit
the Wooden Boat museum and also the Historical Museum with interesting views
of the local history of
this charming town where the Strait of Juan de Fuca meets the Puget Sound. You
will fall in love with Port Townsend!
