First Steps for New Students
- Immunization- All enrolled matriculated students are required to provide proof of measles (rubella) immunity. Students will not be allowed to register for any classes until the Hall Health Primary Care Center confirms that they are immunized.
- Establish your UW NetID- UW NetID is your personal identification for using UW online resources. A NetID is required to use UW online computing services.
- Obtain Student ID/Husky Card- Your ID card serves as your UW library card, allows access to Hall Health Primary Care Center, the IMA and much more.
- Explore MyUW- MyUW is your personal portal to University of Washington information. It is an easy-to-use tool for finding the resources you need to fulfill your goals at the university.
- Learn about your U-PASS- This comprehensive Metro/Community Transit (CT)/Sound Transit (ST) bus pass offers students nearly unlimited access to Metro/CT/ST bus service and numerous benefits.

- Evening Degree Listserv- The Listserv is used to notify students of important registration information, dates and deadlines, and of campus events, resources and opportunities. The email address used for the listserv is your UW email address. It is important that you either check your UW email regularly, or forward your UW account to an email account that you check often.
- Evening Degree Advising- For academic advising, questions about course availability, registration, and information about UW policies and services, contact Emily Batlan, Suki Kwon or Connie Montgomery at (206) 543-6160. Appointments are available 8:30 am - 7 pm Monday-Thursday and 8:30 am - 5 pm Friday.
- Tips for Choosing Courses- Visit the Evening Degree Course list. From the course list you will be able to:
- Read the UW catalog description of the courses
- View the textbooks required for the course
- Read the Instructor Class Descriptions for information on recommended preparation for a class, course content, typical assignments, and grading. If one has been prepared, there will be links to it from the Evening Degree quarterly course list. Just click on 'view section status,' then click on the instructor's name. Or you can look at the whole catalog by visiting the site above.
- View the Course Evaluation Catalog. This instructional Assessment System is used to collect student ratings of instruction. UW NetID login required.
